Other news and opportunities

From Megan Affrunti of the Clinton Global Initiative, we have an offer to provide Ekoji members with training called Empowering Faith Leaders. The course teaches practical strategies that help faith leaders confront substance use, addiction and the overdose crisis, and makes connections to local service providers and resources that save lives. Each participating organization receives support from the team and a grant in the amount of $2,000 to plan and execute a community-based project to raise awareness, reduce stigma and distribute resources such as Narcan. The program is free of cost and involves nine meetings (approximately monthly) that will run from Tuesday, September 29, 2026  –  Tuesday, May 4, 2027.” If you are at all interested, let Mark (our prez) know via . (There may be a limit on how many Ekoji members can participate.)

Several arborists have said it is time for our hackberry tree to be removed, following the loss of a large limb some weeks ago. Arborscapes will perform the work, probably in mid-October. There will likely be some ceremonies to mark the loss, and we will think about what, if anything, to do with the stump. Arborscapes will also remove some non-native shrubbery at the same time.
